Gail and i took a trip with Brian and Lori to Lori's cabin. We while we were there we went to lake Sterling. Brian and Ty fished, Gail and Lori chilled and enjoyed the weather, and i walked around the lake taking pictures.
This will be a multi post of stuff I've done over the last year. Went a few places, up to with the Addigtons to Lori's cabin, backpacking in the Big Bend Redwoods state park, up to Tahoe for Paul's Birthday, then to Bellingham to my Nephews wedding. I will have photos from all this below.
I had the great idea to go on a solo backpacking trip. We as a family did a lot of backpacking when i was a kid and i miss it. My kids and Gail are not as thrilled with the idea so i decided to try a one night on my own. I ended up picking Big Bend Redwood State Park and a route known as the Sunset Trail/Berry Creek falls trail. I planned on reaching the sunset Camp for the night then hiking out to my car the next day. Total mileage is about 10.5. My goal was to see if this is something i still want to do and to take my camera equipment in with me to do a photo backpack trip. With the goal of planning more. This hike was rated as difficult, but they advertise it as a in and out one day type of hike so i thought, How tough can it be........
Well it was tough, going in I was feeling not bad. I was tired but felt on the whole pretty good. left my car around 9am and made it to the camp, 5 miles in at around 2pm. Set-up my camp and this was the first time i used my hammock tent. cooked and rested. Next day i headed out and thats when it got difficult. Ran out of water about 2 miles back, then at the three mile mark my knee started to hurt. But i carried on and made it back to my car. For a few weeks after i had a real hard time, knees were very sore and took a long time to recover. Notes for next time, accept what the description says for difficulty and get in shape. Below are the pictures.
This Saturday, Sept 22 I was able to attend the Sacramento Air Show. I got up early and made it to the gates about and hour before it opened. Only 15 cars in front of me. This allowed me to get right up to the fence near the flight line. I got some spectacular photos of the various acts. The photos are in the Planes, Trains, And Autos category and show acts from the U.S. Air Force Thunderbird's, F-35 and P38 Lightnings heritage flight, Gene Soucy and his Grumman Ag Cat acrobatics, Canadian F-18 Hornet Demo, US Army Golden Knights Skydiving, Matt Younkin and his Beech 18 twin acrobatics, Shockwave Jet Truck (three jet engines), Redline Airshows acrobatics, Matt Chapman and his Embry-Riddle 330LX acrobatics, and Jeff Boerboon and his Yak 110 (two Yak55's connected in the center by a jet engine). There were also many older aircraft flying, three different variations on the P-51 Mustang, B-17, corsair, U2 and others.
I have uploaded new images in a number of categories. I hope to soon have a store open here so that you can purchase prints of my work. Hopefully soon.
I created a new category called events. You can find it under the more tab on the main page. I was asked to be one of three photographers at the Autodesk first annual holiday party. It was a lot of fun and was a pleasure to work with the two others. You will find only my photos of the event here.
Went to a Meetup at Limatour Beach at Point Reyes. First two photos are of a Coyote that was walking down the road. He was not very scared of me and I got the impression he has been fed from cars before. Needless to say I did not feed him.
Rest of the photos are at the beach. Sky was a very interesting cloudy pattern and the plovers were have a great time feeding.
